Renunciation of US Citizenship

  • August 20, 2025
  • 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
  • Live Online Event

Renouncing a US citizenship is an important decision for your clients. Our webinars walk you through all the tax obligations as a US citizen, how they affect everyday life, and why it’s crucial to renounce citizenship properly.

The presentation will answer these questions and more:

  • What happens if I haven’t filed US taxes in several years (or ever)?
  • Which US benefits am I still eligible for after I renounce?
  • What are the most common reasons why US citizens living abroad renounce their US citizenship?
  • Can I still collect US Social Security after renouncing properly? (hint: yes)
  • What will my relationship with the US be like after renouncing my citizenship? How will it affect travelling?
  • What are the pros and cons of renouncing and do the benefits of US citizenship outweigh the costs?
  • How do I determine if I or a family member are US citizens without realizing it?
  • What are the IRS filing and reporting obligations for those who have/had a US green card?
