Leaving a Legacy: Preserving Your Life Story and Family Memories

  • July 16, 2025
  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Take a moment to reflect on the legacy you’ll leave behind—not just in documents, but in the stories, values, and memories that define your life and family. Leaving a Legacy: Preserving Family Memories is an inspiring and interactive workshop focused on approaches to identifying stories, capturing relevant memories and details, and preserving those stories for generations to come. You’ll leave with some practical tips on how to record and organize these memories, whether through writing, audio, or photos. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with tools and ideas to start creating a lasting legacy that goes beyond material possessions. It's not just about preserving the past—it’s about sharing who you are with the future.

Mali Bain, BA (UBC), BEd (SFU), MA (UBC), a former high school teacher, has also worked in university, philanthropic, and non-profit settings. She is a certified guided autobiography facilitator, family historian, and author. She is founder of the Canadian life story and family history publishing services company NextGen Story: Custom Publishing.
